Alcatel ISAM to enable user-centric broadband services at triple the speed of conventional ADSL technology
Preparing for triple play service delivery, China Telecom, the largest fixed telecommunication service provider in China, has selected Alcatel to upgrade its existing broadband access network across 26 Chinese provinces.
China Telecom will deploy the Alcatel 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) -- throughout South China and North China -- laying a solid foundation for future triple play service delivery to China Telecom subscribers, including very high-speed Internet access, videoconference, IPTV and other multimedia services.

Alcatel ISAM: Industry Leading Architecture
Based on an industry-leading architecture that ensures 100 percent service throughput to every user simultaneously, the Alcatel ISAM will enable China Telecom to offer user-centric broadband services at triple the speed of conventional ADSL technology.
The ISAM family's underlying principles are critical to successful new triple play services, including:
- A true IP platform with distributed processing power to provide efficient service handling (multicast, QoS, security, etc.)
- A non-blocking architecture to perform all functions at wire-speed (delivering every subscriber a minimum of 20 Mb/s)
- Support for a variety of access solutions - including fiber to the node (FTTN), fiber to the home (FTTH) and central office based DSLAM -- allowing carriers to push fiber closer to the home or close enough to economically shorten copper loops.
The ISAM is an integral part of Alcatel's triple play service delivery architecture which spans access and fiber technologies, IP routing and Ethernet switching solutions.
More than 65 customers worldwide have selected the Alcatel 7302 ISAM as the cornerstone for their access network transformation.
