The Antwerp IP Transformation Center: Partnering for Change

Faced with a harsh competitive environment, service providers need to re-invent themselves and to focus more on service innovation. As a result, vendor relationships are changing. Network operators are no longer just looking to outside vendors for point solutions and best-of-breed products but for strategic partnerships enabling End-to-End integration and fast execution of their business transformation.

Alcatel responds to this increasing market requirement by creating a global network of IP Transformation Centers (IPTC) supporting service providers in the execution of their IP transformation projects. The Antwerp IPTC is the latest addition and officially opened on September 12, 2006, as part of the inauguration of Alcatel’s newest headquarters for its Belgian operations.

"Shortening the IP transformation period and mitigating potential risks in areas such as network dimensioning, process reengineering and customer migration are IPTC’s prime objectives. Our key asset for the successful execution of these projects is a combined technology and project management expertise delivered by a team of experienced solution architects, applications and OSS/BSS specialists, integration engineers, network operations experts and project managers."
-- Hervé Derrey, Vice-President Integration Services Division

The Antwerp IPTC is the first center of its kind in Europe. This 1,500 square meter customer lab, hosts over 50 cutting-edge technologies, and is home to over 100 highly-skilled experts. The center can manage more than 10 large-scale projects simultaneously.

The Antwerp IPTC is focusing on the EMEA region and is part of a global network of competence centers including North America (Plano/Texas) and the future Asia Pacific center providing the same level of expertise and capabilities worldwide.

Service providers have a one-stop access to a live test environment to replicate their own network, to configure, pre-integrate and test end-to-end solutions encompassing home & office environments, network infrastructure, service application platforms and OSS/BSS. Also, access to our integration lab facilities offers the opportunity of experiencing first hand demonstrations of our unique portfolio of highly successful purpose-designed hardware and software products.

"The Antwerp IPTC demonstrates Alcatel’s aim to become the preferred partner for service providers launching major IP transformation projects. Our customers will benefit from pre-integrated solutions (including in-house and 3rd-party products) and best practices gained from large scale projects such as AT&T, British Telecom, Telecom New Zealand, and Telstra."
-- Michel Rahier, President of Alcatel's Fixed Communications Activities.
