The movements of this Uighur dancer, star of the regional dance company, demonstrate the grace of Persian miniatures, through the history of her people. Her name, Gozal Nour, comes from the Turkish for “pretty light”. But her talent is now reserved solely for the businessmen guests of a Kashgar hotel, almost exclusively Han Chinese.
