Iranian Kurdistan. 1979
orn apart by colonial ambitions and the regional regimes of four countries - Iran, Turkey, Iraq and Syria - the Kurdish people have long fought for its territorial independence, and the recognition of its language, its culture, its traditions, and its social and political entity. How many men, and how many women leading the claim for recognition, were arrested, tortured, forced to silence or exiled for the most fortunate ones? I remember the grave of a father, a husband, a brother, on which was written: ”Watan giyan wa saru malem fiday to wa giyan.” "I sacrifice my soul, my belongings and my life for you, my land." The tombstone, the only page of Kurdish writing, has the last message of the man to his lover.
