Anhui Telecom, a provincial subsidiary of China Telecom, has joined a growing list of service providers in China who have selected Alcatel to deliver next-generation IP networks and enhanced end-user services.
Anhui Telecom will deploy the Alcatel 7750 Service Router (SR) in seven major cities, enabling more robust triple play services for both residential and enterprise users. The Alcatel 7750 SR is the industry's first service router designed and optimized for the delivery of high performance carrier-grade data, voice and IPTV services.
China: Big Appetite for Triple Play Services
China is set to become a giant in the Triple Play service market as discerning service providers continue to build out their networks to enable enhanced triple play services.
The market signs are clearly in support. The rate of broadband penetration in China is doubling every year and the estimated ranks of IPTV subscribers expected to reach 9 million by 2009! (Source: Norson Research and Consulting 2005.) Regulators are on board as well -- having issued the first IPTV license to Shanghai Media Group, a leading content provider in China, working with China Telecom and China Netcom for commercialization of IPTV.

The Alcatel IP solution is a key factor in this triple play penetration rate. Anhui is the 23rd province in China to choose the Alcatel IP solution. The Alcatel 7750 SR is found in the networks of all key Chinese service providers, including China Telecom, China Netcom, China Mobile, and China Unicom.
